American
Solar Reduces Energy Costs for Greenhouses, Farms, and Food Processors
For
greenhouses, farms, and food processing facilities, energy use is
often one of the largest variable expenses in an annual budget.
To heat a greenhouse during the winter months, for example, a grower
may spend half the cost of crop production on heating the greenhouse.
Whether a grower makes a profit or incurs a loss, may depend on
the cost of energy for heating. If the grower uses expensive fuels
such as propane, fuel oil, electricity, and even natural gas, a
spike in prices greatly changes profits.

Food
processors use even more energy than greenhouses for activities
such as canning, drying, cooling, and climate-controlled storage
of agricultural goods.
American
Solar's polymer collector substantially cuts many of those energy
costs. When growers or facilities use ASI's ground mounted polymer
collector, they can save substantially on their heating bills. Typically,
American Solar's air heating system will deliver heat at less than
½ the cost of heat delivered from conventional heating sources.
The company's system can be installed anywhere and typically delivers
10 to 15 times as much heat energy as it requires in energy to run
the small fans.
ASI's
solar air heating systems can be used on the farm for,
- greenhouse
heating
- crop
drying
- brooder
house heating
- poultry
house heating
- water
preheating for livestock wash down
- soil
warming
- equipment
maintenance shed heating
- residential
heating
- residential
hot water heating
Since
ASI's system is very portable, farm and facility managers can move
the system from place to place on the farm to follow seasonal heating
needs. For example, a farm can use the ASI system for crop drying
in the fall, greenhouse heating in the winter, soil warming in the
spring and residential hot water in the summer. American Solar's
light- weight air heating system is ideally suited to meet these
varied heating needs for many seasons.
Food
processing of farm goods can be even more heat intensive with drying,
canning, and cooking processes all requiring heat. Even warming
fruits and vegetables coming out from climate controlled storage
facilities can take an enormous amount of heated air. American Solar's
flat roof or ground mounted solar air heating systems is ideal for
the food processing industry.
