American
Solar, Inc. manufactures new (patent-protected) solar heating systems.
This systems produce heat at lower cost than most fossil fuel, electric,
and solar energy sources.
The
company, headquartered in Northern Virginia, works with solar installers
throughout the country to service its U.S. customers.
American
Solar's founder and CEO is John Archibald. Mr. Archibald is recognized
as a national expert in the field of energy efficiency, energy savings
performance contracting, energy services contracting, and the economic
and policy analysis of energy management. He has over 20 years of
experience in the private and Federal sectors, in engineering, and
project and program management.
He
directed the Office of Federal Energy Management Programs within
the U.S. Department of Energy from 1996 to 1999. As FEMP Director,
he helped agencies of the Federal Government reduce their $8 billion
annual energy bill. He also managed programs that evaluated and
deployed hundreds of energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies.
Mr.
Archibald has worked on programs involving:
- engineering
analysis,
- private
sector financing and contracting for energy and energy savings,
- residential
and commercial buildings and,
- regulatory
and legislative reform.
He
has been a member and a contributor to several professional engineering and energy associations
including the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the American
and International Solar Energy Societies, and the American Society
of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineering. He holds
a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering and a Master of Business
Administration degree. The U.S. Energy Association and Johnson Controls
awarded him the Public Service Energy Leadership Award. He also
received the Exceptional Service Medal from the U.S. Department
of Energy.
