American Solar Inc. Signs Contract to Provide First Solar Activated Air Conditioning System to the PentagonAnnandale, VAAmerican Solar Inc. (ASI) announces the award of a DoD contract to deliver an innovative solar activated air conditioning system. ASI will build a solar-roofed security inspection station at the Pentagon. The solar roof will incorporate a new solar thermal technology to heat and cool the building. John Archibald, President American Solar, Inc., made the announcement. "We're very pleased to deliver the first roofing system to harness the heat of the sun for year round heating and cooling," said Archibald. "With solar activated air conditioning, ASI can give customers continuous use of solar thermal systems. In the past, solar heating systems were most beneficial in northern climates with high heating demands most of the year. Now, facilities in Sunbelt states, with high air conditioning demands and moderate heating loads can receive the same year round benefits," Archibald added. American Solar's new system enables building owners in all markets to use solar thermal technology whether the building needs heating, air conditioning or both. ASI's system combines its proprietary solar-thermal tile system with dehumidification technology to produce cool dry air during humid summer days. Facilities in the Sunbelt and Mid-Atlantic States, with high humidity, can now benefit from solar activated air conditioning in summer and solar heating in winter. The Pentagons' new station will enhance the facility's security by providing a covered, lighted area for vehicle inspection and visitor access. The solar-tiled roof of the inspection station will provide weather protection and drive the heating and air conditioning system. American Solar, Inc. manufactures a new (patent-protected) solar thermal tile system. This system produces heat at lower cost than most oil, gas, electric, and solar power sources. The company's systems cost-effectively gather large amounts of solar heated air from an attractive tile roof. With these innovative technologies, customers can use solar energy in several new ways. Customers with applications that require year round energy loads and that use high-cost heating sources benefit the most. By purchasing ASI's products, commercial, government and institutional facilities receive dependable, continuous and cost-effective energy. ### For further information, visit American Solar's Web site: www.americansolar.com or contact ASI at 703-425-0923 or by email at info@americansolar.com Media Inquiries: |
