Metal panel systems can also be provided in upright, tilted, and low profile systems, with or without glazing. American Solar has installed several low profile metal panel systems which stand only 4 inches above the mounting surface but have excellent tilt angles built in to the corrugated surfaces to maximize solar collection. These systems are fixed tracking collectors which dramatically extend the useful hours of solar collection each day (e.g. up to 13 hours per day in June vs. 10 hours per day for conventional collectors).
