American Solar designs, produces, and installs solar heating systems for residential, commercial, industrial, government, and agricultural energy users.
The solar heating systems we design and install are among the most attractive, economical, and productive solar energy systems produced today.
Our solar heating systems can produce heat energy at lower cost than natural gas, fuel oil, propane, LPG, heat pumps, or electric heat, in any climate zone.
Our solar heating systems produce solar heated air, which can be used for a variety of heating uses from space heating to water heating to equipment heating and drying.
The basic American Solar heating system produces no electricity. However, we have, incorporated solar electric generation into our solar heating systems, where it makes economic sense to the customer. In most cases, our customers have found that using solar heated air saves far more money at lower cost than systems which generate solar electricity.
Our systems are some of the least complicated solar heating system produced today. They simply exposed dark metal or polymer components to the sun. The dark panels become solar heated and they transfer their heat to the air contained immediately behind the panel. We then move that air into the building for a variety of different heating uses. There is no water to pump or freeze, leak. There is no electric meter, or batteries, or sophisticated electrical system, or holes in the roof. There is only a weather tight solar roof, or wall, or ground mounted panel(s) that produce solar heated air that is delivered by a low power electric fan to the home or building.
Once the solar heated air is collected, there are literally dozens of uses that can help cut down your electric, gas, fuel oil, or propane heating energy use. For example, if you heat with an electric furnace, electric baseboards, or electric heat pump, solar heated air will save cut your more electric heating bills. If you have electric hot water or electric clothes dryer, solar heated air will cut your electric water heating or drying expenses.
We design, produce, and install 5 types of solar heating systems:
Building Integrated Metal Solar Roofing
Building Integrated Metal Solar Siding
Ground or Fence Mounted Polymer Solar Heater Boards
Ground or Vertical Mounted Metal Solar Panels
Solar Heat Recovery Systems From Existing Metal Roofing and Siding.
Building Integrated Solar
Many of American Solar’s heating systems use conventional building materials to form attractive building integrated solar heating surfaces. Unlike old fashioned solar collectors, which are sold as separate “appliances” attached to buildings, we use conventional roofing and siding, as the solar collector surfaces. This roofing and siding can be newly installed or, in many cases, we can use existing roofing and siding as the solar collector surface. We recover the solar heated air from the roofing and siding to provide heat to the home, the building, the industrial process or equipment, or just about anything that requires heating.
We have used the solar heated air for: space heating, water heating, radiant floor heating, outside ventilation air preheating, clothes dryer preheating, boiler air preheating, heat pump preheating, equipment heating, dehumidification, and other uses.
In many cases, customers end up with beautiful new weather tight roofing and siding and large solar heating systems, … for little more than the cost of the new roof or siding. Where customers have existing dark roofing or siding, we can design a solar heat recovery system that will use the existing surfaces to produce solar heat at lower cost than other solar heating systems.
Heater Board Solar Panels
We also produce Heater Boards, which are advanced polymer air heating panels. Our Heater Boards have broken the price and performance barrier for solar heating. With starting prices for panels at under $179, or $6 per square foot, and delivery temperatures as high as 140 degrees Fahrenheit, Heater Boards represent a breakthrough in solar heating technology.

- solar heat recovery systems from existing siding, roofing, and roof top equipment screens.
We produce standard design details for use by architects and engineers and have compiled booklets of study plans to aid homeowners, architects, engineers, and building managers in adapting their new designs and renovations to solar. We also provide solar design and engineering services to homeowners, architects, engineers, building owners, builders, contractors, and components manufacturers to add solar heating and solar heat recovery to their homes, buildings, and products.
